Dr Thomas J Ratke

is the owner of Academy West Animal Hospital.

He is a graduate of Michigan State University.

He has been practicing for over 35 years and has

many years of experience when it comes to the

care of our client's pets.   He continues to work

with Search and Rescue and is currently

working for the Federal Government Veterinary

Disaster Relief.

   James Kimmel DVM

He has been a veterinarian here at Academy West for about 3 years.

He started out as a relief vet, but is now our full time veterinarian

and he works Monday through Saturday.   He is a Graduate of  the

University of Illinois and has been practicing Veterinary Medicine

 for 6 years.  He practices on small animals and is looking to further

his knowledge of exotics. He has four cats at home.

Manager ~ Bonnie Faye

She is a wonderful person. She loves helping in any way

she can and takes the time to listen to your needs. 

She has four dogs at home.  

Assistant Manager ~ Kelly

Kelly K. has worked at Academy West for about 4 years and knows many

of the clients and their pets personally.  She loves her job and is

often upfront helping out clients. She has two cats Arwen is on

the left and Zombie is on the right.

 Receptionist~ Kelly

Kelly S.  works upfront and can help you with

boarding, grooming and hospital questions. She has worked

with us for about 2 years. She rescued her cat from

Academy West when he came to us injured. His name is Rudy.

 Receptionist~ Maurine

She is passionate about helping animals. She likes german

shepherds and siamese cats.  She spends

her spare time volunteering at a kitten rescue

located in Peoria.

Technician~ Freddy

Freddy has always enjoyed working with

animals in every aspect.  He has several

dogs & cats , also birds at home.   He 

enjoys working with reptiles & exotics

as well. 

Technician ~  Lilie

She has been working with animals

all her life. Her family had kennels

and raised dogs and she loves working in 

the veterinary field. 

She and her husband and 3 boys care   

for a menagerie of animals, including

pomeranians and persians.   

She also owns several large parrots. 

 Technician~ Idora
She graduated from Anthem
College and has worked at Academy West ever since.

She has three dogs, 4 cats and 3 rats at home.

She takes care of them all with her husband and 3 kids.  

She hopes to one day work with the Animal Cops Phoenix.

 Kennel Attendant~ Cindy

She is our Kennel caregiver,  she looks after all the

dogs & cats that are staying here with us while their

owners are away.  She has several small birds of her

own and 2 small dogs, Scruffy and Nutmeg. She is

devoted to making their stay here as comfy and cozy as possible.

Kennel / Groomer~ Marco
He has 2 cats at home named, Chilindrina and Gizmo.

 He loves working with all the dogs who come in for their

kennel stay and then to grooming. He looks forward to

seeing our regulars coming to stay with us.

 Marlena ~ Groomer

She has always loved animals and now

she gets to groom them and make them look their best.  

She has 14 yrs of grooming experience and has worked with

AWAH for many years. She has 2 dogs and a cat at home.

 Gooming Asst. ~ Michael

He loves to help out the groomers with bathing and taking pets

out for potty breaks. He has several pets of his own as well. 

We serve the cities of Phoenix, Peoria, Glendale, Anthem, Goodyear, Scottsdale, Litchfield Park, Surprise, Avondale, El Mirage, Buckeye, Sun City, Waddell and Tolleson.
